Specialized, trauma-informed therapy for adults

Bottom-up versus top down

Trauma and emotional dysregulation are stored in the body. Bottom-up approaches focus on healing this dysregulation by focusing on the body and nervous system first, rather than starting with thoughts or narrative. Bottom-up approaches use techniques engaging the body, which naturally shifts emotions and thought patterns.

Trauma is not what happens to us, but what we hold inside in the absence of an empathetic witness.

Dr.Peter Levine, Founder of Somatic Experiencing®

Gentle Healing, Profound Shifts

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-focused, natural approach to healing trauma, developed over decades of research by Dr. Peter Levine. Drawing from a unique blend of physiology, psychology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, and indigenous healing practices. SE is based on the understanding that trauma stores survival energy in the body. When this energy isn’t released, it can cause the nervous system to become stuck in dysregulated states, leading to ongoing symptoms. SE helps restore balance by gently releasing this stored energy and supporting the body's natural healing processes.

  • The NeuroAffective Relational Model™ (NARM) is an advanced therapeutic approach specifically designed to address complex trauma, including attachment and developmental trauma. NARM focuses on the unconscious attachment patterns that develop early in life and impact a person's identity, emotions, physiology, behavior, and relationships. NARM integrates principles from psychodynamic psychotherapy, attachment theory, cognitive therapy, Gestalt therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. Using a combination of top-down (cognitive) and bottom-up (body-focused) techniques, NARM fosters a deeper connection to self and others, supporting a shift away from survival-based patterns toward authentic living.

  • Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) explores the connection between the brain, mind, and relationships, emphasizing that the brain continues to grow and change throughout life. IPNB was developed by Dr. Dan Siegel integrating insights from neuroscience, psychology, and relational studies to understand how attachment and life experiences shape brain function. It highlights the importance of healthy relationships in healing trauma, as secure emotional connections foster brain growth and emotional regulation.

  • Integral Somatic Psychology™ (ISP™) is a body-oriented therapeutic approach that helps clients fully embody their emotions to enhance mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Developed by Dr. Raja Selvam, ISP integrates insights from neuroscience, psychology, and Eastern energy psychology. ISP emphasizes the importance of emotional embodiment; the inability to tolerate emotions in the body leads to psychological and physical symptoms. ISP helps clients expand their capacity to experience and regulate emotions in the body.

  • The relationship between attachment and the nervous system is key to understanding how we regulate emotions, respond to stress, and form relationships throughout life. Early attachment experiences, particularly with caregivers, shape the nervous system's ability to manage stress and foster connection. Therapies like Somatic Experiencing and Polyvagal-informed approaches help individuals heal by working with both the mind and body, improving nervous system regulation and promoting healthier attachment patterns.
